Alexis Quick Jump

Novelist and dramatist, one of the naturalistes (see Naturalisme), and a friend of Zola (q.v.), contributed the short story Apres la bataille to Les Soirees de Medan (q.v.) and published collections of tales, including La Fin de Lucie Pellegrin (1880) andLe Besoin d'aimer (1885). With Oscar Metenier (1859-1913) he collaborated in writing for the stage, notably dramatizations of LesFreres Zemganno (1890, by E. de Goncourt) and Charles Demailly (1893, byE. andj. de Goncourt, qq.v.).
