ÉDY-LEGRAND pseudonyme de Legrand Edouard Léon Louis

Né le 24 juillet 1892 à Bordeaux (Gironde). Mort en septembre 1970 à Bonnieux (Vaucluse).

XXe siècle. Français. Peintre de compositions à personnages, compositions décoratives, figures, graveur, illustrateur.

Il connut le succès dans les années trente, quarante. La galerie Antinea de Paris organisa encore une exposition de ses œuvres en 1985. Il conçut de vastes compositions décoratives pour certains grands magasins de Paris, et pour les grands paquebots français de l'époque. Il contribua aussi au renouveau de l'illustration d'ouvrages littéraires, avec, entre autres : Siegfried et le Limousin de Jean Giraudoux, Poèmes en prose de Pierre Mac-Orlan, L'île rosé de Charles Vildrac, L'enfer du Dante, en tout environ cent-cinquante livres depuis Rabelais, à Anatole France, François Mauriac, André Malraux, Albert Camus.
