Gebrauchsgraphik
Founded in 1925.
Gebrauchsgraphik (from the German meaning Commercial Graphics)- was originally published in Berlin (1925-1945) and carried the English subtitle; International Advertising Art: Monthly Magazine for Promoting Art in Advertising.
Gebrauchsgraphik typically included articles on both German and international graphic design in advertising. The publication appeared in English and German until after World War II, when an additional French translation section was added.
The publication relocated to Munich after the separation of Berlin in 1945. From 1959 Gebrauchsgraphik included a Spanish translation and took the title Novum Gebrauchsgraphik in 1972.
Gebrauchsgraphik's international tone, breadth and character, publication longevity and representation of the avant-garde in commercial art have made it a design journal of significant influence.
