Frank Newbould - (1887-1951)
Frank Newbould received his artistic education at the Bradford College of Art.
F. Newbould's pictorialist approach recalls the flat, simple patterning of the Beggarstaff Brothers.
Newbould was a favorite designer of the London and North Eastern Railway (L.N.E.R.) in the 1930s, for which he produced many posters. These include several pastel vignettes of the English countryside, often accompanied by fragments of verse, that established a "landscape school" in English poster design of the 1930s.
