Bass Otis has the distinction as the artist whose work was first published lithographically in the United States.
Published in the July 1819 Analectic Magazine the magazine included the first lithograph published in America, a scene by Bass Otis dated 1820, though appearing in the July 1819 issue with an article on the "new" medium of lithography.
