Adhemar suggests that this print might have been originally created for the Café-Concerts series but was held back for publication in L'Escarmouche. Certainly the strong 'up lighting' in the image bears out this assumption. Refs: Delteil 48; Adhemar 51; Adriani 50; Wittrock 38.
