A playful vignette - Bonnard's rendering of dogs at play frolicking in a field predates his work with La Revue Blanche by a few months yet conveys concisely his emerging direction and intent. The absence of color in this image and monotone contrast afford a glimpse at the details and minutia of the underlying crown and tousche work that would become the signature punctuation of Bonnard's style for the remainder of the decade.
