" Purple day dress with ruffles and flower detail, with matching Parasol and Hat "
| Pochoir, meaning Little Pocket, is a unique coloring method that uses a stencil to apply color to a plate.
It is very recognizable because the paint is usually ridged at the edge of the color field where it met the edge of the stencil opening. Fashion, textile and interior design publications from this period often used this technique as oposed to the more time consuming method of hand coloring without the stencil. The technique leaves a beautifully detailed finish with solid washes of color.
