" Lappawinsoe, Lappawinze, Lap-Pa-Win-Soe - a Delaware Chief. "
| Beautiful lithograph portrait after a painting made by Gustavus Hesselius in Philadelphia circa 1735. The portrait was presented to the Historical Society of Pennsylvania by Granville Penn -son of Thomas Penn- in 1834. An early historian claimed the “Penn accounts” attributed the portrait to a Swedish artist named Hesselius (Mckenney gave the spelling Cecilius) who had been commissioned by either John or Thomas Penn. –see Horan, 322.
